Little Leaps: Trail Adventures
A little help for little explorers.
Choose an animal, find your pace, and take the next hop. Little Leaps is published by 1855543 Alberta Inc., operating as NerdySpider. The game is free to download, with no advertisements, account registration, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.
How do I move?
Tap the world to hop forward. Swipe in a direction or use the on-screen arrows to move forward, backward, left, or right. One accepted action makes one hop.
With a keyboard, use the arrow keys or W, A, S, D. Space hops forward; P or Escape pauses. Keys 1, 2, and 3 activate a packed shield, slow time, or magnet when available.
Why can’t I move farther sideways?
Your explorer stays between the two visible trail edges. Trees, cactus, and scenery beyond those edges are decoration. If you reach an edge, find the marked opening ahead or move back to a safe bank to line up with a different gap. A blocked hop does not move the explorer; repeatedly swiping into the edge will not open a new route.
How can I make a crossing easier?
At camp, choose Difficulty → Easy for slower traffic, wider gaps, and three hearts. Medium and Hard have one heart and busier crossings. Each difficulty gradually becomes more challenging as you advance.
Try Practice to learn an obstacle without spending packed powers or changing your stars, records, or scrapbook. Choose an Expedition for a finite trail, or Endless to see how far you can go. Pause whenever you need a break; you choose when to continue.
Can I keep the same landscape?
Yes. Choose a landscape at camp and it stays with you throughout that run and its retries:
- Willow Woods: traffic, rivers, and floating logs.
- Frosty Peaks: snowy paths and slippery ice.
- Sunset Dunes: cactus trails and rolling tumbleweeds.
- Ember Isles: lava crossings and glowing stones.
Does the game need the internet?
The crossings, artwork, audio, and saved progress are stored in the installed app and on your device. Gameplay uses no online game server or game account.
Downloading or updating the app and visiting this website require a connection. App-store installation or licence verification may also need a connection; Google Play may add installation verification to its delivered version. A browser preview needs an initial successful load before offline caching is available.
Where is my progress saved?
Your stars, unlocked friends, powers, backpack pins, best scores, settings, and scrapbook are saved on the current device. There is no publisher-operated cloud save or cross-device account. A run in progress cannot be continued after the app is fully closed.
Avoid deleting the app or clearing its data as a first troubleshooting step: local progress can be lost. The Android app excludes its data from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. iOS backups may preserve app data according to your device settings and platform behavior; restoration is not guaranteed. NerdySpider does not hold a copy of your progress to restore.
How do I change the sound or motion?
The speaker button at camp mutes or unmutes all game audio. Open Settings, or pause during a run, to control music and sound effects separately. Your choices are saved. If the game is quiet, also check your device volume and audio output.
Reduced motion makes the camera and decorative animation calmer while keeping the essential movement and warnings visible.
How do stars, gifts, and powers work?
Collect stars on the trail, earn progress bonuses, or claim the daily gift at camp. The gift is available once per local day using your device's calendar. Missing a day does not remove rewards or reset a streak.
After you claim a gift, its receipt shows the stars and power added to your pack. If that power pocket is already full, the receipt says the power was not added. You still receive the gift’s stars.
The shop shows fixed prices in earned game stars. Those stars have no cash value, and the shop never charges real money. Use them for optional animal friends, backpack pins, and powers. Four starter characters and all four landscapes are available immediately.
A shield protects against one hit, slow time briefly slows moving hazards, and a magnet collects nearby stars. Free power bubbles also appear on the trail. Each power pocket holds up to nine.
Why did the eagle grab my explorer?
On Easy and Medium, the eagle starts looking after about seven seconds without a successful hop. On Hard, that warning starts after about three seconds. Make a successful hop when the warning appears to shoo it away; pressing against a blocked space does not move your explorer. Use Pause if you need more time.
Watch for other warning cues around police cars, trains, and glowing stones. Wait on a safe bank and find an opening before crossing.
Something froze or looks wrong. What should I do?
Pause if possible, then close and reopen the game. Check for an available update. If a recovery screen offers Reload game, it keeps saved progress but restarts the current run.
